If you haven’t heard yet, I am about 16 weeks pregnant with my first child and growing fast! Every day before I knew I was expecting I strived to excel at everything I sunk my teeth into and now it is more important than ever. I am trying to set myself up for not only personal success but monetary success while being creative enough to know why I’m doing the things I do and loving it.

With this being said, I am trying to involve my writing into everything I put my hands on and realized recently that I actually am a full time writer now. Although it may not be the writing I always planned to make a career out of, it is a form of writing with freedom and a paycheck so I am more than thrilled at this prospect.

I am sure my new family will add to my collection of stories and cannot wait to see what I come up with once things settle down but I am hoping to finish my novel in the time that I have off (assuming the little one will be sleeping lots and I will be able to keep my eyes open when he/she does!). I am also trying to set up some websites that get traffic and make money on their own (ie It’s Raining Gifts and Fountains Fast) which are both doing very well now but can always grow.

The new baby will also mean many more pictures so many more posts on I Am Corona, most likely starting off gently with posts of baby and cat before moving on to baby and dog. Yes, I love to be busy if it is doing something for myself and the greater good of my family so I will keep trying to improve on what I do best – writing and posting!

On Sunday May 24, 2009 – bring your kids, your sunscreen, your spirit and make sure you stretch because the Magnetic Hill Zoo is holding a fundraiser to bring the tigers back to Moncton and I will be there!

I am donating $5 from each Sending You Sammy book sale at the zoo to the Tomar-the-Tiger Fundraiser. Come out and run or walk or stroll your support to the local Zoo and let your kid be a part of it forever!

Registration begins at 8:00 so make sure you’re there. I will be.

I offered stories from Brain Tales – Volume One for a review and this is one I received:

“Paper Flowers is a beautiful story about a young girl who lost her mother at a very
young age and her father learning how to cope and move on while still maintaining
memories. I feel for the father who is trying so hard to provide his daughter with a
happy life but it not able to find happiness for himself yet.  Sarah Butlands story
brough tears to my eyes as I read through the story about a little girl looking for
memories of her mother but by the end these tears had turned to ones of happiness as
the father finally realizes that he has given her more than memories. ”

I liked your writing, the characters were developed well, however the only thing I could see that was off was the reaction of the husband to the stranger in his house.

I thought getting knocked out without so much as a “WHo the hell are you?” or “What are you doing on my property?” was a bit harsh. Even considering the situation about intruders that is explained later.

It says a lot to the reader if a man’s first reaction to the possibility of danger is to commit violence first. Tells us that he’s an angry, aggressive person, and doesn’t bode well for the relationship he might have with his wife.

Other than that it was a good story. Short stories are difficult to write for the limited space in which to create full featured stories where all characters and mood can be completely realized.

Good job though, I liked it.

I’m baffled at the sudden success of finding Sending You Sammy on Chapters.Indigo.ca and in shock at the turn of events. Although Brain Tales – Volume One is not available yet I have to think that it should be soon.

I will update as I find out more.

I just dropped off 30 Brain Tales – Volume One Books at Reads on Main Street in Moncton! Be sure to get your copy today before they go to other stores or sell out!

Brain Tales – Volume One is now listed on Amazon.ca, Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com!! Although the book is not yet available (I won’t go into that) it is in the process of becoming available. So save your gift cards and keep an eye out on each of these links to get Brain Tales – Volume One as soon as it is available!

I received the first copy of my newest book Brain Tales – Volume One today and know it will be a hit with young adult readers and more.

A collection of short stories ranging from life to death, love to hate and all the cliche’s in between but stories that make you question and read again and again. Brain Tales – Volume One is only the beginning of so many things and a launch pad for things to come.

I can’t wait to get this out to the public and will let you know when it is available for purchase.

Exciting news was brought to me by my publisher this week and that is the fact that my books will soon be available through Chapters (the largest Canadian book retailer). I struggled to figure out how to meet all of  their requirements to make my book easily accessible to my fellow Canadians and support a Canadian retailer but with no success.

To discover that my printer has finally made the connection and has met all the qualifications for us is phenomonal. Especially since I just uploaded Brain Tales Volume One for print (release party to be held at Cover to Cover Books in Riverview December 6th, 2008). Not to mention finally getting some publicity through my local newspaper, Times and Transcript. Things are finally developing with my writing career and I can feel the effects.

Now I have to work on my novel to complete the story before my illustrator, Trent Washburn, perfects his cover drawing for it. Stay tuned…

Finally the local paper caught some buzz on my book signing for Sending You Sammy at Cover to Cover Books. Check out the Times and Transcript for details and Cover to Cover Books for information and a map to the store. Be sure to catch me on December 6th to hear me read the book to my fans and don’t miss your chance to get a great Christmas gift for any child in your life.
