As part of my New Years Resolution (Goal, Self Promises, whatever you call your commitment to do something new) I vowed to take some risks in life and instead of making excuses and I have been doing lots.

One thing may not seem like a major change but to me sneaking out of bed to write while my little boy sleeps is huge. Typically we nap together and when I wake before him I don’t dare move for fear of waking him up. Now instead of lying awake in my excuse I’ve been creeping out of the room to send a message, write a blog or clean a mess. It’s been paying off!

More major risks I’ve taken is writing to best selling authors about doing interviews for my site, reading my book, connecting with a high school friend to make a book donation to his camp and participating in a paying it forward chain to send a craft/ original gift to a stranger. Things I’ve wanted to do in previous years but felt the need to take charge and just do it this year. I figure the more I pay it forward the more creative I’ll be inspired to be and help others embrace their craft as well.

I’ve also created a Facebook event to help you reach your goals with Committed to Resolution and invite you to participate. It encourages participants to state their resolution and post about their progress and how they did it so others can be inspired and feel supported in their own efforts.

2012 was my year of excuses – I’m too tired, we moved, I need to be quiet/ still.
2013 will be different, it’s my year of taking risks and celebrating when they pay off.
