While being busy is often seen as a fault or aggravation, I thrive with deadlines, projects and will always say yes to tasks that align with who I am. There’s an old saying that goes something like – when you want something done, ask a busy person, they’ll do it.

In some ways, it’s the idea of not being able to say no but, you see, I can and do say no. I will also set deadlines far in the future if I want to do it, know I’ll do it and just know I am juggling some things. And I will always sacrifice the piled up laundry, dishes and get really creative in the kitchen so I don’t have to get groceries to ensure every project has my full attention, is completed well in advance and that I thrive.

I gain momentum by saying yes, by supporting others and ensuring they get what they need. It’s more fun for me when we can all thrive than to see some being forgotten. If there is a task to do that pertains to writing – ask me. Have a book you want me to read – I’ll read it! Yes, this may mean I don’t see you for a few weeks because I need to prioritize the projects I committed to.

Who I am is someone who will thrive on commitments, deadlines and projects and be lost without anything to do. With you I am found.

Thank you for understanding,

Sarah Butland
