Today’s post is in conjunction with the Blog-A-Licious Blog Tour a fantastic blog hop that brings together bloggers of all genres, backgrounds and locations. In today’s hop, the blog featured before my own of “For Readers, For Writers, For You” is “Peace from Pieces“. The blog featured after mine in the Blog-A-Licious Blog Tour is the captivating “InsideJourneys / Discover a place you missed“. Do stop by and say hello plus some of us are having giveaways and contests. Enjoy!
Writing to me is my saving grace, my therapy, my soul and essence. Writing has always been my way of escaping my own life which is such a cliche but as a young girl I didn’t know I wasn’t supposed to live a cliche. It’s my voice, my passion and my drive for life beyond my love for my family.
I’ve been talking to a lot of people about their passion as of late and cannot believe how many people live their life without knowing their purpose. I get so caught up in having always known who I am and wanted to be that it surprises that others are living happily without that confidence. Being able to share my story to those willing to read it motivates me to write, and ironically read, more. Without the words on a page I don’t believe my voice would be heard as I too often catch myself biting my tongue, refusing to speak what needs to be said.
Times like these I turn to writing… whether it be for my blog, a fictional piece or an outcry or pouring of outrage in a book no one will ever see; no matter the form the process of writing to me is soothing. My writings are pieces of glass ready to be smoothed by the sands of time and prying eyes.
Like many writers and authors, I write because I need to but it’s more than that. Writing to me is a way in the world of deserts and swamps, a way out when the path is not already carved and the truth not always heard.
Writing to me is you reading what I feel inside and I thank you for reading,
Sarah Butland

Sarah, Passion is the ultimate reason for writing and spewing words onto a piece of paper, there’s no better fuel to drive a writer than that burning passion deep inside. It’s obvious there’s little shortage of that in your life and creative corner of your mind. Love your quote about “writings are like pieces of glass…..prying eyes”; that rings so true and it should be the primary reason we all write. Enjoyed my visit!!

Oh my god, Sarah our thoughts about writing are so similar, wow. I am so glad we met on this blog hop and connected, it’s a pleasure reading your post and an honor to share this journey with all you wonderful writers.
Beautiful! Passion is what brings us to creating.
Hi, Sarah,
In the work I do–tough love self help–I hear the things you write about so often. I’ve even said them myself! We all need a purpose and so many are searching for that right now. Sometimes, however, we get caught up in thinking it has to be something big–like starting a healing center or moving a mountain, etc. It could be–that may be exactly what you came here to do. However, it may be that you came here to touch people through your writing or your art or by just being you and giving someone a smile that changes their day.
I think it was Men in Black II where the dog says that we humans think everything has to be big to be important. It’s a good point. Some of the people who are living their purpose most profoundly walk among us unnoticed. I am pretty sure they are smiling though!
All that said, I am thrilled that so many people are opening up to being more and to do their parts in making good changes.
Lovely post!
Paula
Good post Paula.
Enjoyed it
Sarah – Sarah – I will say Sarah – Sarah – I will say Sarah…..
I can definitely relate — I bite my tongue a lot and not say what needs to be said. But when I write — there’s no hiding. I have to be honest or it’ll be clear to my readers that I’m not.
Glad to be on this tour with you.
Thanks for this post.
Marcia
Lovely looking blog, and I hear what you’re saying about being honest.

Hi Sarah: yep, the feeling we must write is imperative. One thing I took from Stephen King (On Writing) was his commitment to read as much as you can. Good for you, and for this hoppy thing. Shared all over.
mark the path well i will follow thank you for being on the tour god bless
Writing is indeed a great escape. The mind is so vast, our thoughts can take us anywhere. Nice post! I enjoyed this stop on the blog tour.
“a way out when the path is not already carved and the truth not always heard.” – a beautiful sentiment which I can completely relate to. Thank you for the inspiration and for joining the blog tour.
Best wishes – Dora

Sarah – I was struck by this: a way out when the path is not already carved and the truth not always heard. Yes, we write so that we can share our truth and that’s as powerful a reason as there ever can be!
Really surprising. This entry shows a great use of videos and images to enhance your blog. Also, the subject matter is interesting and current. Definitely one of the topics that caught my eye. anyway can you think about generator that is very related topic now a days?
