As a writer so many cool things happen to me it’s hard to understand how they all come my way and I often don’t want to understand.

Most recently I received an email I almost discounted as spam as there really wasn’t much content in it and expected me to reply. I hesitated, I shouldn’t have. It simply asked if I’d be interested in visiting schools as the writer of the email found a grant Hellmann’s was offering. I finally replied asking where the schools were as I’m between moves and wasn’t sure where she was contacting me from.

I’m so glad I did as I was invited by a complete stranger to speak with schools in Ontario! What a wonderful thing – to be discovered by someone in another Canadian province and asked to be a guest at their local schools – all expenses paid!

So I did my research and it appears this great company of Hellmann’s is offering funding for residents teaching their communities about real food. Very fitting for me, the author of Sending You Sammy and the organizer of Food Revolution Atlantic, host of the events on May 19th.

What a great way to promote buying local and buying real food. Hellmann’s is giving out up to $100000.00 in grants to people celebrating events Canadians are hosting to promote Real Food. You can submit your event by 11:59:59 p.m. (ET) August 9, 2012 on Hellmann’s site.

Whether or not I am granted this money to help publish more of the Adventures Of Sammy series or not, I already won by knowing my efforts are being recognized and awarded and knowing other major companies are playing a part in making the world a healthier place.

What was your miracle event this week?

Thanks for the opportunity, Hellmann’s and thank you for reading,

Sarah Butland author of Sending You Sammy, Brain Tales – Volume One and Arm Farm

  1. How cool! My miracle event was getting to go to a writing retreat and actually writing two chapters of a brand new book. It was exciting and motivating!
