If you’ve been following my blog and subscribed to my newsletter, you would know that I have been allowing other authors to take over my blog each month to share their stories. Reflecting on this, and the time it was taking to seek out such authors and encourage others to visit, I realized I needed to do something different.

You see, I have stories to tell and, while they will often be about other authors I admire, it’s time again to share more about my own journey with writing and my energy, what I can muster, should be spent on celebrating how far I’ve come. This isn’t selfish, it’s self-care. This is a step I need to take for my own mental well-being, instead of paddling around in search of ensuring someone else is connected, celebrated and supported. It’s time again that I support me.

In supporting me, I want to start highlighting those authors journey’s I have admired. Those stories I have fallen in love with and the people who wrote them. Yes, I write book reviews for platforms like The Miramichi Reader and Sunrise Trail, along with other publications and outlets, but this segment will go deeper and more personal. I will tell the stories of how they impacted me, such as Michelle Robinson, Karl Subban, Charlene Carr, Lorna Schultz Nicholson and other Canadian greats.

This won’t, however, just be for you, but instead will allow me the time to reflect on those I admire, look deeper into why I look up to them and rejoice in the relationships I have built through my love of literacy.

I will try to post weekly, as there are a lot of authors I do want to celebrate, and hope you’ll join me on this ride of new beginnings while looking back and forging ahead.

Thank you for reading,

Sarah Butland

Any mentions of books will be linked to my Amazon affiliate page where, at no cost to you, I can make a small percentage of the sales which will help me continue to carve out time for stories that matter.
