This Sunday, January 27, 2013 is Family Literacy Day in Canada and all over the country people are reading!

Although it’s so important to read on a daily basis it’s vital to understand some people in this world are not fortunate enough to be able to read a word. If you are fortunate enough to love reading I ask that you buy a book, borrow a book, give a book or sing a song to a stranger this weekend.

I’m off to the library this morning, my son’s love for books will take us anywhere there’s a reading or event.

Flash Fiction

Not fiction that’s flashy
but a brief moment in time
and a story that lasts forever.
No matter your schedule,
desire or skill
a flash fiction piece
is sure to be spilled.
We all have a story
to share with our world.
Literacy Day is on Sunday
write one to share
and we’ll all enjoy the read.

So for our children, our community and ourselves, to celebrate Canada and all it offers, to enjoy the arts and uniqueness of the passions of so many Canadians struggling to be read – turn off the tv, take a walk in a bookstore or library and browse all the spines and covers have to offer.

Thanks for taking this moment to read,
