The third book of Karen Kingsbury’s Firstborn describes John Baxter’s determination to fulfill his wife’s deathbed wish while Dayne, the long lost first born son, searches for more than just answers. Through natural storms and the downfalls of being famous, Dayne is on a path he always avoided and discovers he quite likes where it’s finally taking him.

While not being a huge fan of religious, fictional inspiring, sappy tales Found was superficially touching to me while being an easy an fast read. I haven’t read any other of Kingsbury’s works so I was a bit lost in this novel (no pun intended) but quickly found my way and made easy assumptions to fill in some of the blanks while others were left empty but seemed of dismal importance.

Enjoying this book for its temptation of a happy ending the bai didn’t entice me to want to read any of her other books any time soon.

Off to read Winnie the Pooh to my little one. What are you doing today?

Wow, what an amazing book. At first I was completely overwhelmed with the convoluted way of saying what needed to be said but I read on, realizing that the message needed to be explained thoroughly for it to be trusted. With scientist after scientist being referenced, including: Fritz-Albert Popp, Sai Ghosh, Ingo Swann, Helmut Schmidt, and the list goes on, the Law of Attraction was presented in several different ways.

With intention comes magic and to know that it’s been studied for many years around the world is proof enough for me that there’s evidence to back it up. Although I didn’t need scientific proof as I had my own life experience I’m glad that someone was able to put so much research together to attempt to convince the skeptic.

The Intention Experiment is not over either as Lynn McTaggart continues to ask for help to get concrete proof of the power of intention. Even if you haven’t read the book which I do highly recommend reading through it more than once, you can participate in a worldwide experiment which may finally make the Law of Attraction as believable as the law of gravity. The book didn’t focus and barely mentioned the Law of Attraction but it touched on it all the same.

Pick up your copy today and visit The Intention Experiment now to participate in the next worldwide scientific experiment.

This weekend brought back some sweet and not so sweet memories, friends and wonderful times but that wasn’t the best moment, although they were fantastic. The particular moment I’ll always remember, cherish and talk about is the comment on my parenting.

I was thinking how great it would feel to be told I was being a good mother to my two month old son. I believe I am, I know I’m doing my best and that my husband and I have made very many important decisions such as no television or soother; important to myself although they made not be consider right by every parent out there. I decided long before I had a child that I would not have my child become dependent on a soother or television. Thus far William hasn’t even seen a soother and has watched less than a minute of television (we had him watch Halifax ring in the New Year and the ball drop in New York).

I’m proud because I stayed true to my feelings and haven’t caved on my beliefs and am even more proud of my husband for following my leads and doing the same. Whether or not these decisions are correct or not we feel that we have been doing what’s best for our child.

Only a few moments after the thought of how great being recognized for what I’ve been doing was I told by someone I greatly respect that Paul and I have surprised him by being perfect parents. What I find even more compelling is who said it and that it was said completely randomly.

I trust the Law of Attraction, I know that it exists and this moment was still surprising but amazing at the same time. My weekend was complete with best friends, terrific memories, and lasting impressions that will forever be cherished.

Reading Exposure I had a lot of questions and was left without many answers at its conclusion. A very well-written book with Gracie being extremely likable with her childlike language and personality yet not seeming complete. If Andersen evolved the relationship between Emma and the man she adopted as her father in approximately 200 pages this novel could have easily been on my favourites list.

I do plan to give Andersen another shot as I enjoyed her overall storyline as well as her easily loved and slightly underdeveloped characters.

I am sick and tired of being reminded twice a week as to how our current government is allocating our tax money. About twice a week, every month or more, we receive unaddressed mail asking us to “vote” on which party in our country is doing a better job at __________ – every time it’s different. Normally the Conservative Party’s box is in much larger text than the others – is this because too great of the Canadian population cannot read?

Although these are printed in black and white the full sized papers too often only end up polluting our dumps and make our mailman come up our driveway only to deliver this garbage. We will vote when there’s a re-election which I wish was sooner than later. It’s ridiculous and discouraging to see what our tax money is paying for when so many dollars were taken away from crucial aspects of what makes Canada Canadian.

I’m an author struggling to spread the word of literacy and the solution to childhood obesity, meanwhile the Conservatives are conducting their own surveys asking the disturbing illiterate population which government is voicing the right platform.

Please let the government, Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Garry Breitkreuz, MP listen to their voters and make a difference instead of continually asking us if we think the other governments would. News to the Conservatives – you are currently in office, do something!

Wanting to support “local” authors I saw that this book was written by an author from St John’s, Newfoundland and just had to get it for my friend who lives in Newfoundland. I wasn’t convinced it would be a masterpiece but was surprised to find I really enjoyed it.

I have to admit, most books that win prestigious awards are beyond me and I can’t seem to really get into them; this was the exception to the rule. Alligator‘s chapters are separated by a different character leaving you wondering how everyone connects and what happens with the person you just left behind. Lisa Moore did a wonderful job of having me relate to each character, namely Colleen and Frank who describe their own struggles and trepidations while working to achieve their own greatness, whatever that may be.

I’m glad I took the time to read through this book before passing it on and trust that whoever reads it next will enjoy it as much as I did or more.
